The Problem with Food Fundamentalism

Nutrition isn’t one-size-fits-all. Diets can—and should—be tailored to individual needs, and social media has made it easier than ever to share knowledge and adapt approaches for different groups.

But with this access comes a downside.

As a longtime nutritionist, I’ve seen food biases take root in the form of food fundamentalism—something I’ve witnessed firsthand through years of engagement in online nutrition communities, especially as a former vegan and vegetarian.
